We are third-generation farmers on Caluga Farm, guided by a deep respect for land, animals, and the natural systems that sustain them. When Amanda and Graham (the second generation) took over the farm more than 25 years ago, they chose to step away from conventional methods and look back to how farming was done before heavy chemical and pharmaceutical inputs.
Drawing on ancestral knowledge, including stories from Graham’s family in the Shetland Islands, they began a long process of unlearning and rebuilding. Now, their regenerative farming style combines traditional principles with modern tools to farm in a way that works with nature, not against it.
Today, our cattle are raised through regenerative grazing practices that prioritise soil health, biodiversity, and animal wellbeing. By moving our cows regularly onto fresh pasture and allowing long recovery periods, we build healthy grasslands that capture carbon, feed soil biology, and produce calm, nutrient-dense beef.
This low-stress, pasture-based system results in meat you can feel confident serving your family; ethically raised and deeply connected to the land it comes from. If knowing the story behind your food matters to you, you’re in the right place.
